Joy to the Little Fish in the Deep Blue Sea

Once it got warm here which was like april, we have been working with Kayden in the pool.  Ever since my friend, Ashley Sullenger's little girl, Preslee, had an accident which she fought hard through but is now their angel child watching over them,  I have been ever so scared of the water for my kids. Dave and I have said NEVER EVER will we take our eyes of off Kayden in the pool and Jaxson is never aloud to crawl around on the deck.

 It has taken a lot of repetition and a lot of steps to teach Kayden that if we aren't around that he CAN NOT swim, literally. The first and most important was to teach Kay that he couldn't bend over to grab a ball out of the pool he had to lay on his stomach.


Next we showed him that he couldn't reach the bottom of the pool (he understood that very quickly). Then it was time for swimming with a dino ring and teaching him to kick his feet which made him move around the pool.

Last was the floaties, yes i know they don't help with learning to swim but they help me to have a little more peace of mind. He learned to hold his breath and knows that if the floaties come off he no longer can float which i believe is SO important 

We can now say that our K Bear is  swimming with his floaties :)  Next step- Swimming floatie free!

My zoo animals

Our Phoenix zoo is amazing.  Not only is there a wide variety of animals, there's 2 splash pads (one for younger kids and one for older). We usually stay around the younger one because the kids are the same size as Kayden but we decided to venture out to the BIG kids one and I don't know if we'll ever be able to go to our same routine again :)

*Just as a Note: I have NO idea how to "organize" pictures anymore with blogger and maybe its my computer now or it's just that things have changed BUT it's extremely frustrating! So any help would be appreciated :)
