Annie, the head nurse of the surgery (maybe she isn't, but I call her that) just informed us that the surgery is complete!!! She said his heart is a little swollen, which will require his chest to remain opened for a few days to make sure the heart isn't compressed at all (this isn't uncommon). She said Dr. Burch should be out to speak with us in about 20 minutes, to give us his opinion on the surgery and what we should kind of be expecting.
We will probably give more details after speaking with Dr. Burch. As far as we are concerned right now, LET THE RECOVERY TIME BEGIN!!

Wonderful! What will his recovery be like? Will he be sedated for a few days while his heart heals?

yay! i've been gone all afternoon trying to get some stuff moved into the new house... congrats on kayden's surgery being complete! let us know what's going on!
I can finally breath :) So will you guys get to see Kayden if he has his chest open for a few days...I'll be anxiously awaiting more updates. Oh and Dave, thanks so much for updating the blog often - it is sooooo nice to be able to know what is going on..almost like we were there. thanks

Recovery time will depend on how everything is healing. We anticipate 2 weeks.
